As a boudoir photographer, there are a few questions that I get all the time! So, I thought that I would answer some of those questions in blog posts, while also sharing some gorgeous photos with you! The first question we’re going to discuss is “what do I wear for my boudoir session?”
What you wear to your boudoir session is 100% up to you. You can wear lingerie, you can wear sweats and an oversized sweater (trust me when I tell you an oversized sweater is very sexy), you can wear absolutely nothing at all! It is completely up to you and what you want for your session. However, most people opt to wear lingerie, so I am going to share links to a few of my personal favorite pieces and share a few tips for when you are buying lingerie for yourself!
Let’s start with a few of my personal favorite pieces of lingerie! This first piece you have probably seen in a few photos I have shared in the past! I have it in my Client Closet in black because I love it so much! It’s the RSLOVE Fishnet Bodysuit with Rhinestones. This body suit is perfect because it literally fits everyone! It is made out of a stretchy, fishnet material and looks amazing with either a regular bodysuit underneath or with nothing under it at all! It’s also reasonably priced which is great and comes in an assortment of beautiful colors!
This next piece is actually from Target. It’s the Auden Underwire Lace Bodysuit. This piece is another one that is reasonably priced and suits all body types really well! It also has great lift in the chest which is another bonus. You can find it in store or online and is true to size, which can be hard to find in lingerie!
The final piece I want to share with you is from Adore me, a great brand that I love. Its the Calissa Plus. This is another affordable and versatile piece that works well with all body types! This piece comes in a few different color options that are all stunning! In all honesty, I just love bodysuits. They hug your curves and help you flaunt what you’ve got!
Now let’s talk tips for purchasing lingerie! Whether you’re buying lingerie for your boudoir session or just because you want to treat yourself, there are a few important things to remember.
1) When shopping for lingerie, go for pieces that hug your body. Everyone tends to go for baby doll’s because they feel safe, but because they billow out, they tend to have the opposite effect of what you’re looking for. So although a baby doll may be in your comfort zone, it probably won’t give you your desired look. Step out of your comfort zone!
2) When buying lingerie, remember that it generally runs small, so go up a size just to be safe! Lingerie is generally very form-fitting, so ending up with a piece that is too small can be very uncomfortable!
3) Finally, if you don’t like lingerie with underwire, that’s okay! Buy whatever you like and you think is most comfortable. You can always add extra lift with fashion tape!
